We’ve been accused of making up the names of bands who’ve played at Hot Sauce in the past but even we would be hard pressed to come up with a name as ridiculously amazing as Tits Of Death. Anyway names aside they are a brilliant band and this month we are hosting a launch party for their debut 7″ ‘Iron Nipples’.

In support are laid back suzzy rock n rollers Sister, and Hot Sauce residents Tony Poland and myself, expect a filthy mix of garage rock, new wave and disco punk.

And it’s FREE entry all night.

I’m pretty sure if you have an internet connection you’ve seen this already so I wasn’t going to bother posting it, but it really is a bit special so what the hell. Expect it to be ripped off in a major ad campaign in the next few months.

If you haven’t been living under a stone the last couple of years then the chances are that your ears have been exposed to the sound of Brazil’s Carioca Funk (aka Baile Funk) , that from its origins in the favelas of Rio it has spread to a global audience and been championed by the likes of Diplo and MIA.

Probably responsible more than any other for the global popularity of baile funk is German journalist, DJ and record label owner Daniel Haaksman who has been instrumental in bringing over to Europe and publicising the real Brazilian MCs, DJs and producers behind the music. In 2004 he formed Man Recordings and brought the likes of Edu-K and DJ Marlboro to a worldwide audience as well as forging links between South American and European artists. With our record boxes permanently clogged up with records from Man we decided it was time we caught up with Daniel to find out what’s going on in his world. Continue reading

Soundcrash asked me to interview Kid Acne for the second issue of their fanzine and as we like the Soundcrash boys a lot and Kid Acne even more it would have been churlish to say no, anyway we’ve put it up here for your reading pleasure. Continue reading

Hot Sauce This Friday!

It’s Hot Sauce # 9 this Friday and we’re back at the Macbeth, easily Hoxton’s best venue at the moment.

Playing live we have 3 exceptional bands; BARRINGTONE, the new project from former CLOR frontman Barry Dobbin, the krautrockdisco of ONE MORE GRAIN and the Slits meets LCD Soundsystem experience that is DISKOBOY.

I shall be spinning wonky new wave, rock and electro in between the bands and as Tony is off being a DJ superstar at the Modular party we’ve asked the wonderful NAOMI// from All You Can Eat to fill in and get the party kicking after the bands (I think we got the better deal…).

Anyway doors are at 8, the bands are on till some time just after midnight then we go on till 2am (officially).

If you want to be on the £3 paying guestlist drop me a line before Friday 5pm at

The Macbeth, 70 Hoxton Street, N1
